RABBIT MEADOWS SANCTUARY Rabbits at the feral sanctuary are enjoying some of the trimmings from local grocery stores. Our local markets are doing a great job of supplying the rabbits with all of the very fresh outer leaves removed constantly during the day so that the veggies you purchase look as fresh as the day they were picked! These bunnies are happy to help keep your veggies looking fresh.
If any of the feral rabbits need to be picked up and checked for a medical problem, you can see how this can be easily accomplished. Since the feral rabbits will take food (especially fruit) directly from attendants hands, they can just be "snatched" up and examined or monitored for a day or two to determine if vet care is needed.
These rabbits are cautiously sharing an apple. Just like kids, fruit is much tastier than veggies. They often enjoy watermellon, strawberries, apples, bananas, pears, mangos, etc., etc., etc.
Rabbits at the sanctuary are able to live naturally in family groups. They do not have to dodge automobiles. Run from coyotes. Dodge hawks or owls. We think you can see from these photos that the feral rabbits are fat happy little guys. They already have a longer average life than they did at the business park. The liver coccidia is totally eliminated. We feed these rabbits 4 bales of alfalfa each week at a cost of just over $10/bale. The trimmings from the grocery stores are donated. If you'd like to donate a small amount to help pay for our $40/week hay bill, please send your tax deductible donation to: House Rabbit Society PO Box 3242 Redmond, WA 98073 |
