The Rabbit Meadows Sanctuary & Adoption Center is a non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to:

  • The rescue and adoption of guinea pigs who have lost their home, through no fault of their own.
  • The education of persons interested in sharing their homes with guinea pigs.

We rescue rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, gerbils,  hamsters, prairie dogs, chinchillas and the occasional hedgehog. We work with local animal shelters and accept these animals from them as space permits. (Only if a shelter does not have guinea pigs needing our help will we consider taking in your guinea pig, and only if you help to pay for their spay/neuter by donating $85 for each surrender.)

We spay and neuter our guinea pigs prior to adoption. This is done to prevent hormonal cancers which could result in early deaths. This also allows these guinea pigs to live humanely with their own species and with your family.

If you are looking for a friend for your own guinea pig s/he must first be altered. We place guinea pigs either as a friend for your guinea pig or as pairs. Guinea Pigs are herd animals, and should not live alone.

We only do adoptions within the Seattle and Puget Sound area. If interested in a particular animal, you must come in to our Redmond shelter to meet one another.

Fluffers

Fluffers was born in March 2011. She was purchased as a friend for an older g.pig and when that g.pig passed, she was surrendered to our shelter.
Fluffers is a cutie with the white blaze on her forehead. As usual she hates the pick up part, but loves the part where she sits on your lap being petted
She's looking forward to finding another boy friend to call her own.
Adoption Fee $ 55.

Fluffers

Frances & James Frances & James

Frances & James were born in March 2009. Neutered brothers, they don't enjoy being picked up, but once placed on your lap they enjoy the attention.

Guinea pigs need to be let out of their enclosure for daily exercise. They need vitamin C tablets (not in their water, fresh veggies and hay available 24/7.

Adoption fee $100/pair (includes neuter cost)

Harry & Buddy

Harry(left) & Buddy(right) are long-haired, neutered brothers born March 2008. Long-haired guinea pigs are not difficult to care for. If you will comb them once a week it will keep their hair from tangling. Perhaps once every 2 months you can trim their hair so it doesn't drag on the ground. If you don't have that small amount of time to spend with your guinea pigs, you don't have time for a pet.
They are typical guinea pigs who hate being picked up. But once picked up, really enjoy being petted for a long time. These brothers would like to stay together.

Adoption fee pair/$100.
